どこから飲んでも甘い水を体の中に入れる
Putting Sweet Water into the Body, No Matter Where You Drink From
2019 · Trombone + piano · Composition / piano
Listen · Full performance recording · 7:03
About the work
Composed in 2019 for trombone and piano, this fully notated chamber work moves through rapidly changing musical gestures, silences, contrasting registers and shifts in density. The trombone part includes glissandi and mute changes, while the piano moves between isolated attacks, chords, running figures and repeated patterns.
Yamada’s original programme note is deliberately brief and open-ended. It describes the work through the image of water: because water has no fixed shape, there is no single correct answer; wherever one drinks from, the water is sweet. Detailed instrumental writing coexists with this interest in ambiguity, fluid form and openness.
The piece was presented at Inexplicable Owl vol.6 on 21 November 2019 at Menicon ANNEX HITOMI Hall in Nagoya, with Hiromi Tanaka on trombone and Ryo Yamada on piano. The complete performance recording lasts just over seven minutes.
